
Minnesota State Fairgrounds……Laura Bachmeier of Dakota County is one of 18 Minnesota 4-H Purple Ribbon Auction recipients. She was recognized for her leadership and personal growth through her 4-H experience, and received a $1,000 scholarship award to help further her education.
Bachmeier of Apple Valley has excelled in leadership, actively participating in FFA, National Honor Society, DECA, Business Professionals of America, and Student Council. She has spent twleve years in 4-H and has been showing livestock for eight of those years. Laura is attending North Dakota State University majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Biotechology with future plans to attend vet school. Kevin and Theresa Bachmeier are her parents.
The Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association (MLBA) coordinates the scholarship program and annual auction. Half of the scholarship funding is derived from premiums raised at the auction and those dollars are matched by loyal youth supporter SMSC Business Council. The scholarships were presented preceding the 31th Minnesota Purple Ribbon Auction on Saturday, August 28th in the Livestock Judging Arena at the Minnesota State Fair.
The 4-H program is funded through a partnership of federal, state, county and private resources and is part of the University of Minnesota Extension.
