On January 6th, the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Supervisors held its annual meeting for 2011. At this meeting elected Supervisors took the oath of office, officers were elected and committees were assigned.
The Board of Supervisors for the SWCD are:
• District 1 –Diane Blake, South St. Paul (1st term)
• District 2 –Jason Swenson, Lakeville (1st term)
• District 3 - Kevin Chamberlain, Hastings (5th term)
• District 4 - Chris Nielsen, Farmington (2nd term)
• District 5 - Joe Meyers, Hampton (5th term)
Jason Swenson, Diane Blake, and Kevin Chamberlain recited the oath of office as they were recently elected by residents of Dakota County. Jason Swenson was elected to serve two years to complete the vacant term for District 2. Diane Blake and Kevin Chamberlain will each serve four year terms.
The 2011 Officers include: Joe Meyers as Chair, Chris Nielsen as Vice Chair, Kevin Chamberlain as Treasurer, Diane Blake as Secretary, and Jason Swenson as Public Relations and Information Officer.
Meyers stated, "The SWCD Board looks forward to the upcoming year to assist landowners, communities and organizations in promoting water quality and land stewardship throughout Dakota County.”
The Board established the first Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. as the regular meeting date. Meeting times are subject to change. The meetings are held at the Dakota County Conservation Center in Farmington and are open to the public.
