Motorists will encounter delays and detours on Highway 3 next week during pipe installations between County Road 46/160th Street near Empire Township and Highway 50 in Farmington beginning Wednesday, July 20.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, Highway 3 will be closed between County Road 46/160th Street and Claremont Drive. In addition, there will be two other closures on Highway 3 at the same time at Chesterfield Way and southbound Highway 3 between Willow Street and Highway 50.
All businesses and residences will be accessible during the closure. However, motorists should follow the signed detour using County Road 46/160th Street, Pilot Knob Road and Highway 50 or other signed local routes in order to bypass these closures.
The road is expected to be reopened to a single lane in each direction between Highway 50 and Main Street by 5 a.m. Monday, July 25.
The construction will provide a smoother road surface, extend the life of the pavement, close or modify access to Highway 3, improve drainage and update pedestrian crossings to meet modern ADA requirements.
