Interstate 35E in St. Paul closes Aug. 5 through Aug. 8

As deck repairs continue on the St. Clair Avenue bridge in St. Paul, motorists will encounter delays and a detour next weekend on Interstate 35E in St. Paul. Both directions of the interstate will close between Interstate 94 and Shepard Road at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.

During the closure, traffic will follow signed detours:

·         Northbound I-35E: Eastbound I-494 to northbound Highway 52 (Lafayette Bridge) to westbound I-94.

·         Southbound I-35E: Eastbound I-94 to southbound Highway 52 (Lafayette Bridge) to westbound I-494.       

All I-35E lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8.

A shorter overnight closure also is planned for northbound I-35E between Highway 110 and Shepard Road.  The roadway will close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5 and reopen by noon on Aug. 6. During that closure, motorists should follow the detour above.
