A free program for families featuring Larry Yazzie, a national champion "Fancy Dancer", will be held at Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, October 30 at 2:00 pm.
Larry is a national champion Native-American Fancy dancer who began dancing at the age of five. Fancy dance is a popular contemporary dance style known for its creativity, flamboyance, and colorful costumes. It is an innovative blend of modern and traditional Native-American dance styles
Larry demonstrates the art of Fancy dance and tells the story of his own development as a Fancy dancer; from learning the basics as a five-year old, through his achievement as a national champion. Experience the thrill of the dance and gain new appreciation of Native-American traditions and spiritual life.
This is a Minnesota Legacy Program. Money for this project was provided by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
