University of Minnesota Extension Dean Bev Durgan honored the Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers and the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council this week with Extension's Distinguished Friend award, with special recognition to Executive Director Dave Torgerson, at the organization's annual conference.
The Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers and the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council understand that research-based information can make a difference, according to Durgan, who recognized the groups for outstanding leadership and contributions to the people of Minnesota.
Individual members contribute countless volunteer hours to Extension activities at the local and state levels. Minnesota Wheat has invested check-off funding to support Extension programming and faculty positions at the University of Minnesota.
"In supporting and promoting Extension and research-based information, Dave and the Minnesota Wheat Growers have earned the respect and gratitude of Extension faculty, staff and Minnesotans statewide," said Durgan.
