Bill's Bits-CLASS REUNIONS

This past August, my JHS of 1955 celebrated our 55th Class Reunion. The number of former students that showed up from a class of 92 was 37. I thought that was good, considering that we had met just 5 years earlier, for our 50th Reunion. Over the span of years, we have lost about 24 fellow classmates and we always pay tribute to them at our reunions. Since receiving our JHS Diplomas, each one has gone on with their adult lives to marry, raise a family and become a part of the community in areas where each located. As a rule there are those who remain in their hometown area and then there are the others who end up as community members all over the U.S., Canada and possibly in foreign countries.

When the day or days are announced for a class reunion, The people from near and far congregate to reminisce, visit, laugh, and eat a hearty meal. Even the years and miles that separate our everyday lives, the over all feeling is one of togetherness until we hopefully meet again. The JHS Class of 1954 have also had their 50th and 55th class reunions. Their class was a little larger than our '55 class, but sad is the fact that they had more classmates who had passed on. I believe it was close to 30.

As always, the classmates come from near and far, and their common bond is the fact that their younger days were centered in and around "Good Old Jackson" and JHS. The class of 1958 asked me to video-tape their reunion. I did this with the help of a Jackson High School teacher and after some problems got worked out and with the excellant help from Chuck Vos,(since deceased) a video was eventually produced. Their class was about 95 in number and the classmates who had passed on were about 19.

The '58 Reunion was held in the Jackson American Legion Clubrooms and food was catered by Sunshine Foods of Jackson. It goes without saying that the evening was spent re-living the youthful days at JHS and up-dating their present phone, e-mail, cell phone, home address and last, but not least, who had the GREATEST GRAND KIDS! Soooooo- until possibly meeting again in 2013...we bid you all a "FOND FAREWELL!"
