Thanks for the memories: Library's Art of Aging residency project captures memories in clay.

Folks from Trinity Care Center in Farmington are leaving memories on tiles of clay. It's called an art residency, and it's unleashing the creative potential of older residents.
The Trinity residents' artwork and written stories will be on display at a community celebration of the Art of Aging Project at the Farmington Library on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to noon.  The celebration will include speakers from the library, MnCAAN and the Trinity Care Center along with music and refreshments. The project is a collaboration of the Farmington Library, the Minnesota Creative Arts & Aging Network (MnCAAN) and Trinity Care Center.  During the week of Nov. 8, residents at Trinity created memory tiles with the help of Anne Krocak, a professional artist. The Art of Aging residency is funded by a vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's art and cultural heritage. Also at the library on Dec. 4 will be the Dakota Valley Arts Council annual holiday show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a family holiday movie matinee from 3–4 p.m.  The library is located at 508 3rd St. in downtown Farmington.  For more information, contact the library at 651-438-0250 or www.dakotacounty.us/library.
