The Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has 30 varieties of tree and shrub seedlings and transplants available for spring planting. The varieties offered are excellent for urban and rural conservation purposes such as; windbreaks, reforestation, erosion control, food and cover for wildlife habitat, or just to increase the aesthetics of your property. These seedlings are provided in bundles of twenty-five for $35 and will be an average height size of 12 to 24 inches at pickup.
Seedlings available include: Black Chokeberry, American Highbush Cranberry, Grey dogwood, Redosier Dogwood, Juneberry, Common Lilac, and Nannyberry, River Birch, Paper Birch, Black Cherry, Hackberry, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Silver Maple, Bur Oak, Northern Red Oak, American Plum, and Black Walnut, Eastern Red Cedar, Norway Pine, Scotch Pine, White Pine, Black Hills Spruce, Colorado Spruce, Norway Spruce, and White Spruce and Tamarack.
Also available are Right Start Fertilizer packets and marking flags.

Orders will are accepted until varieties are sold out or through April 3, 2011. The trees will be available for pick up in mid to late April at the Dakota County Fairgrounds located in Farmington.
